What MyCA verifies

MyCA reviews documents. It does not certify anyone.

Before a Chartered Accountant can be listed and booked on MyCA, a MyCA reviewer opens the documents that person has submitted and checks that they are legible, internally consistent, and that the name on them matches the name on the profile.

What we check

• An identity document (PAN)
• A membership certificate and the membership number stated on the profile
• Degree or qualification certificates that were submitted
• That the profile's claimed experience and areas of work are not contradicted by the documents

What the badge does not mean

The wording "Credentials verified by MyCA" means exactly what it says: MyCA looked at the credentials the professional supplied. It is not an endorsement, accreditation, licence or approval by any government department, regulator or professional institute, and MyCA does not claim any affiliation with one.

MyCA does not guarantee the quality, accuracy or outcome of any advice given during a consultation. The Chartered Accountant you book is an independent professional, responsible for their own work.

If something is wrong

A verification can be withdrawn. If a credential turns out to be inaccurate or a complaint is upheld, MyCA suspends the profile, which removes it from search immediately. Consultations already booked and paid for are not silently cancelled; they are flagged for review so that customers are contacted rather than left waiting.
